Welcome to St Mary by the Sea news for this week. We are in the middle of our teaching series called Unravelled. We hope to see you online this Sunday. As we are at Alert Level 3, there are no in-person services this Sunday, see you online.
Today we get introduced to what for some of us will be a new term, and that term is lament. The story of Job helps us ask the question of: Why is there suffering in the world? And the answer is we do not know. Instead what we learn from Job, is to lament what goes wrong, to grieve for it, and to then refocus on Creation around us.
Next week we will still have worship online, whether we are able to meet in person or not. Till then, stay safe, stay home and be kind.
May God's peace be with you, Dion

Alert Level 3
As of noon Wednesday 12th August 2020, Auckland is in Alert level 3 lockdown. The rest of the country is in level 2. The government have announced that we in Auckland are staying at alert level 3 until Wednesday 26th August 11.59pm. This decision will be reviewed on Monday 21st August 2020, as to what level we will be in after this.
This means, that St Mary by the Sea, the hall and Community Shop continue to remain closed at least until Thursday 27th August 2020. The buildings remain closed until we advise you that they are open.
We will be back in contact with you, when we have an update from the government.
This means that there will be:
- Wednesday 10am Bible Study on Zoom (link below)
- Sunday 10am worship on YouTube and Zoom morning tea afterwards (links above)
- No Wednesday or Sunday in-person services
- No Mainly Music
- Community Shop remains closed
So stay home, wash your hands, be kind.

On-line giving and Covid restrictions.
During the last set of Covid restrictions we had a number of people switch from giving via envelope or cash donation in church to using a form of on-line payment, (EFTPOS, Automatic Payments or Internet Transfer).
Electronic giving is useful as it eliminates the risks associated with handling cash or envelopes and enables donations to continue when we are not able to come in person into church.
If you would like information or assistance to change to electronic giving please get in touch with the office or Dion and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. All forms of giving can be attributed to your giving number. Our bank account details are below in the contact fields.
Thank you for your continued support of this parish.

Tearfund and St Marys BIG quiz night.
This has been POSTPONED
Unfortunately due to the uncertainly about the latest Covid restrictions we have taken the decision to postpone this event until a later date.
More information on a re-scheduled event will be posted once we have better clarity on restriction levels.
