Hi ,
we have had a potential covid19 exposure event at St Mary by the Sea, on Sunday 17th July between 9:35 - 11:20am.

If you were at onsite worship then, please:
  • Minimise contact with vulnerable groups or individuals until Wednesday 27th July (10 days from the above date)
  • Monitor for symptoms and test immediately if you develop any COVID-19 symptoms.
And a reminder; we wear masks within worship to reduce our exposure risk and protect ourselves and others from potential exposure to Covid 19, the flu, colds and RSV. Please continue to wear your mask.

Journeying with you, Dion

Full Covid-19 Exposure Details

We’ve learned that someone with COVID-19 attended our worship and there is a risk they may have passed the virus to others. The person was at our worship at the following time:
  • Sunday 17th July, 9:35am - 11:20am
On Tuesday 19th July a person started to experience cold/flu like symptoms and tested for Covid19. They tested positive. They did everything right:
  • had a Covid test when symptomatic
  • uploaded their contact tracing diary
A Registered Nurse from the COVID-19 Team, from the Auckland Regional Public Health Service then contacted us to say that this person could have potentially been infectious 48 hours prior, which back dates that to Sunday 17th July.

What to do if you were there at this time – if you do NOT live with the person with COVID-19:
  • If you are free of COVID-19 symptoms, you do NOT need to get a test or self-isolate. However, please avoid contact with vulnerable groups or individuals for 10 days from the date above, and watch out for symptoms.
  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please isolate at home and get tested immediately (see below for how to do this). If you still have symptoms after a negative test, stay at home and carry out another test the following day. If your symptoms get worse, contact your local healthcare provider or call Healthline for free on 0800 358 5453.
  • If you have symptoms and you need to miss work financial support may be available. You can show your employer this letter if necessary.
  • If you test positive, there is further advice available on the Unite against COVID-19 website:
    https://covid19.govt.nz/isolation-and-care/if-you-have-covid-19/
What to do if you live with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19

If you live with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you are a household contact. You should:
  • isolate at home for at least 7 days - starting from when the person tested positive or first developed symptoms
  • get tested on Day 3 and Day 7 of the isolation period
More information is available from: https://covid19.govt.nz/testing-and-tracing/contact-tracing/household-contacts/

You can also call Healthline for free on 0800 358 5453. This is a free, 24/7 service with interpreters available. Tell them you are a household contact.

What to do if you are a household contact and a critical worker

If you are a household contact and a critical worker you may be able to return to work early. More information is available from: https://covid19.govt.nz/testing-and-tracing/contact-tracing/critical-workers/

Testing

Testing is free. You can find your nearest testing centre here: https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/covid-19, or free-phone Healthline: 0800 358 5453.

You can also order free Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) if you have symptoms, and use these yourself at home. RATs are the main type of test now being used, with results only taking about 20 minutes. You can order RATs on-line or over the phone.

Masks

We wear masks as an act of love within worship to reduce our exposure risk and protect ourselves and others from potential exposure to Covid 19, the flu, colds and RSV. Please continue to wear your mask.

Keeping you safe in Orange

We continue to have our online service at 10am in parallel for the forseeable future. Please do not attend on-site worship if you are supposed to be isolating following a positive test result for yourself or a household contact, or if anyone in your home is experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, or you are awaiting a Covid-19 test result; please instead join our online service.

My Vaccine Passes are not required for any purpose on-site, to either visit or volunteer, this includes St Mary by the Sea, the Hall, and the Community Shop.

We a QR code for you to scan in if you wish. We continue to operate safely in ORANGE onsite, this means:
  • We encourage you to wear a mask
  • Doors open for ventilation during morning tea – so wear a jumper or bring a jacket
  • The peace in sign language - with the option of physical sign of peace if the person you are exchanging the peace with is comfortable with that.
In ORANGE it is not necessary to be physically distanced, morning tea is served from the kitchen. Soft chairs are used. Communion is served at the altar rail.
SMbtS Buddy Family
We are grateful that New Zealand remains at Orange Level in the Covid protection framework and with that we enjoy the blessings of being able to worship in person. However it is important to remember that there are significant levels of Covid in our local community. As such I want to remind everyone that the St Mary's Buddy Family System is still operating. Should you or your family unfortunately fall victim of Covid please feel free to call the church office or text Dion and we can arrange grocery or prescription collections, check in calls or other support.

Lastly a reminder; if you or a member of your family hasn't had a vaccination or is due booster please look at getting this now. Vaccination supports not only you but those you love and live with.
