this week we celebrate the Trinity. Being trinitarian, is one of the key identities of being Anglican. Most Christian denominations are trinitarian. This means we believe in one God, who we experience as Father, Son and Holy Spirit; or Creator, Redeemer and Life-Giver. The key for us is that God exists in community, in the community of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Creator, Redeemer and Life-Giver have their unique expressions, or identity. The Trinity is expressed as unity in diversity. The example that God gives us is that diversity is good and important. We just need to look out our window to understand that; after all, God didn't create just one plant, or one bird, rather God created a huge biodiversity, and all of this biodiversity is loved by God. And just as God exists as unity in diversity, so to are we called to live. In other words, we need to live in unity with the rest of creation. The trinity is God's example to us of how relationships should work. It is a tough standard, but the one we are called to. And we remember that when we act to reduce biodiversity, we are acting against the ways that God calls us to.

Community Shop.
The Community shop is open Tuesday to Saturdays 10am to 4pm. The shop took over $12k in sales in April, an amazing total for the month. Expenses need to deducted from this.
Our Community Shop in Inverness Road, now has it's Winter Stock available. Come in and update your winter wardrobe, grab that new jacket, cosy jumper and trousers. They also have duvet covers in all sizes and the occasional woolen blanket. Be quick, check out our stock regularly and buy it when you see it because you know things like this are snapped up as soon as they appear.
If you have been holding onto winter clothing for donation now is the time to bring it into the shop.
If you are having a clear out please consider if what you have is suitable for donation. Is it clean, complete and working? We can not take electrical items, baby safety equipment or furniture items due to space limits. Please do not leave donations outside the shop. Items left outside the shop are often damaged by vandals and the weather and become a public nuisance.

ATWC Winter Readiness Campaign
As winter approaches, the AWTC starts another Hōtoke Whakaritea - Winter Readiness Campaign and they need your support.
This season, the reality is stark: 1 in 8 children will face the biting cold without the warmth they desperately need. We see the impacts of this extending beyond physical discomfort; it deeply affects their education and overall well-being. This is why initiatives like our Winter Readiness Campaign are necessary to make a real difference!
The aim is to raise funds to create winter packs tailored to families' needs – this could mean contributions towards kai, clothing, and support for necessities.
Support our mission of keeping children warm this winter by donating now on our website.

Food Bank
A busy week this week with food boxes referrals from local school and ministry contacts plus an increasing in aid packs. Aid packs are when we support families or individuals with food and toiletries but due to their housing situation and lack of cooking facilities a food box is not appropriate. We often ask donations of pot noodle or Maggi minute noodle type meals, these are particularly usefully as they can be prepared in the church and taken away as a hot meal in a takeaway cup.
As well as food please think if you can donate toiletries. These items are necessary to maintain daily dignity and health but often are a stretch on budgets. Razors and shaving foam, men's and women's deodorant (roll on, not spray type please), body wash and toothbrushes and tooth paste. General purpose surface cleaner is also very useful.
Referrals for support come via our local schools, the community police officer, Budgeting services, the Community shop, self referral and our parishioners.
The supplies we received from the schools are now running low and we will need, again, to closely monitor our stocks to ensure that we are able to remain a local resource. As the weather changes and the cost of living continues to bite for many families we can predict that the demand on our food bank will remain high and increase. Over the colder months the choice of food or heat becomes a stark reality for many. We are very grateful to the local schools and the parishioners that have been able to support this mission over the last year. I am aware that the current economic climate makes finances more challenging for many. Please be mindful of your own budgeting needs, but if you are able to make a donation to this mission please consider doing so.
If you are able to add an item to your shopping for donation that would be gratefully received. What we need:-
Urgent, we still are in need of - jam, chocolate spread, vegimite . Wraps, (long life bread item). Cereal bars (preference for nut free versions so these can be used for school lunch boxes). Canned meat- corn beef, chicken, spam (not fish, we have plenty of tuna at this time) and chocolate biscuits.
Thank you for your donations.
If you or someone you know is in need of a little extra support at this time via a food parcel please let Dion or the church office know. We can, by arrangement deliver the box if needed. All referrals are confidential. Referrals for food support can be made to the church office via email or telephone message at any time. These messages are checked regularly and a reply can be expected within 48 hours. If you know someone who is struggling to provide themself or their family with food at this time of year please reach out to them to discuss a referral to our food bank. The simple question of 'Can I help?' to start the conversation is often all that is needed.
