Hi ,
we are launching a new series this week called: I've Been Meaning to Ask. You'll find more details below. The aim of this series is to help us think about ourselves and how we link in with our story of faith.

This week our focus is . . . where are you from?

Everyone is beloved, shaped from the dust of the earth and the breath of God. Everyone has a story to tell. Our stories are messy and beautiful, painful and hopeful—being written and rewritten over time. This week we commit to disrupting our assumptions and staying curious.

Journeying with you, Dion.

... I've been meaning to ask

... I've been meaning to ask

So often we sit side by side and week after week in the pews without truly getting to know one another.

This is a series where we encourage curiosity, courage, & connection. Our society is desperately in need of spaces for connection and conversation. We know that change, growth, and healing can only come through curiosity, empathy, and courage. Over the next four weeks, we hope to move beyond small talk to practice curiosity, listening, and connection.

      We explore:
      • where are you from?
      • where does it hurt?
      • what do you need?
      • where do we go from here?

        Cyber safety.

Auckland Dioceses have made us aware of a scams currently targeting churches.
People are emailed, apparently by the clergy, and asked for money to support a person in need. If you receive any email asking you for money, gift-cards or anything similar, please ignore it and delete it. It is recommended you report it to the Police and/or Netsafe. You will never be asked for money or gift cards via email. Please only give money to St Mary by the Sea, via online banking (details below) or EFTPOS at St Mary by the Sea.

This is a timely reminder to all parishioners to be cautious of any email asking for money or gift cards. Auckland Diocese has a policy that clergy in the Anglican Church do not ask for funds directly in this way.

Happy Birthday to Dianne Denman for the 13th June. Best wishes and many happy returns to you.
If there is a celebration you would like added to our list or a one off event that you would like celebrated please let the office know. Email

        Church donations by Cheque.

The BNZ, (the churches bank), will stop processing cheques from the 30th June 2021. After that date we will no longer be able to present cheques to the bank for clearing. Donations can be made via direct bank transfer, automatic regular payment or EFTPOS machine in church. If anyone would like information on any of these methods and how they work with your giving number please do not hesitate to ask. All of these options can be recorded against your giving number.

        Prayer for Persecuted Believers

I am a local Christian and run a small prayer group using information from Barnabas Fund, Voice of the Martyrs, Open Doors and other organisations. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in nations where it is illegal for them to practice their faith, or even own a Bible, and also thank God for answered prayer.
If you have a particular nation or people group on your heart please feel free to come and share, so we can join together in prayer.

At present, we meet every second Monday of the month at Northcross Church, and start with refreshments at 7pm before we pray.

You will be made very welcome, and for more information please contact Margaret Marriott at or 021 0242 2641
