this week we pause our in-person worship. More details below.
When we reflect on our journey through Our Money Story series, we can draw on our new understanding about what it means to remember God's money story, one of connection and invitation, one of enough. We have released our idea of money, wealth and status. We have explored reimagining money where we were challenged by the story of the widow and the command for Jubilee to change unjust things in our world that cause people to become more impoverished and to reimagine a different way. Now we come to restoration and we hear two stories, the final restoration of Jacob and Esau to one another after years of estrangement and Jesus appearance to the disciples where they caught an abundance of fish, shared a meal together and were instructed to "feed his sheep". We learn that ultimately faithful stewardship heals us as individuals and helps us restore relationship with one another.

Sunday 27th February
In person worship paused
On Wednesday 23 Feb Vestry meet, and have decided to pause in person worship this Sunday 27 Feb 2022, and revisit the decision next Wednesday 2 March 2022 when we have more information about the progress of the Omicron outbreak.
Emergency Medicine across the Auckland region is experiencing a surge in Covid cases attending hospital. There has been a serious shortage of staff due to the outbreak. It appears that the numbers of Covid patients is increasing in hospital. Given that any risk of spreading Covid at worship can only be mitigated by not having worship on Sunday this week in person, we believe that the safer option is to opt for an online service. This will allow for ongoing planning once the severity and significance of this out break is understood.

The time between when you received your second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and when you are able to get your booster jab has been reduced from 4 months to 3 months. This means from Friday 4 February, people aged 18 or older can get their COVID-19 Pfizer booster 3 months after receiving their second dose of vaccination.
Boosters lower the chances of getting very sick and being hospitalised from COVID-19 - including Omicron - and will help slow the spread of the virus.
Book an appointment for a booster dose at BookMyVaccine.nz or by calling the COVID Vaccination Healthline on 0800 28 29 26.

Ministry of Health makes changes to COVID-19 case notification.
People who test positive for COVID-19 will now be notified by a text message. This message will have links to information on self-isolation, how to tell others they have COVID-19, how to look after themselves, and what help is available.
Those testing positive will also be asked to fill in a web-based form, to help the Government better prioritise help for those with the highest needs. They will now be required to inform their employer themselves.
Contacts of COVID-19 cases will also be notified via text message. QR scans, Bluetooth and location of interest will continue to be used to identify contacts along with the cases’ own recollection of who they have interacted with, or where they have been.

Be Prepared for Covid-19

The Government have produced a web page giving advice on how to make a plan for you and your family over this period. This can be accessed by searching- Be Prepared for Covid -19

On 15 January the underwater Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano erupted leading to significant ash falls across Tonga and triggering tsunami waves. While electricity and mobile phone networks have been re-established on the main island of Tongatapu, communications with the outer islands are intermittent. The Tongan Navy has reported major damage in the Ha’apai Islands. Waves were estimated to be 5-10 metres in height and reaching 500 metres inland. The needs on the ground will be significant, especially in the northern more isolated islands. Pending assessments, the damage could include contaminated water and food supplies as a result of ashfall and damage due to inundation.
Anglican Missions is working with The Anglican Diocese of Polynesia to replenish prepositioned relief supplies located at four Anglican churches in Nuku’alofa, along with assisting in a response and recovery project based on needs assessments from our communities in Tonga. They will provide regular updates on their website as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for your donations to the Anglican Mission Tonga Response, we raised $425.00 for this during our recent collection.
