Hi ,
This week in Our Money Story series our theme is Reimagine. We explore the stories of the widow who gave her last two cents and Jesus' censure of the political and religious regime that meant that she had to give all that she had and had nothing left to live on.

In Deuteronomy we hear how God reimagined how the Israelites should live in the generations to come, a social welfare system of sorts which allowed the poor to glean sufficient food for their needs, the forgiving of debts, the freeing of slaves and the returning home in the year of Jubilee. It is hard to reimagine a world different to what we have now.

Journeying with you, Dion

    booster poster v2
The time between when you received your second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and when you are able to get your booster jab has been reduced from 4 months to 3 months. This means from Friday 4 February, people aged 18 or older can get their COVID-19 Pfizer booster 3 months after receiving their second dose of vaccination.

Boosters lower the chances of getting very sick and being hospitalised from COVID-19 - including Omicron - and will help slow the spread of the virus.

Book an appointment for a booster dose at BookMyVaccine.nz or by calling the COVID Vaccination Healthline on 0800 28 29 26.

Ministry of Health makes changes to COVID-19 case notification.

People who test positive for COVID-19 will now be notified by a text message. This message will have links to information on self-isolation, how to tell others they have COVID-19, how to look after themselves, and what help is available.
Those testing positive will also be asked to fill in a web-based form, to help the Government better prioritise help for those with the highest needs. They will now be required to inform their employer themselves.
Contacts of COVID-19 cases will also be notified via text message. QR scans, Bluetooth and location of interest will continue to be used to identify contacts along with the cases’ own recollection of who they have interacted with, or where they have been.

    Be Prepared for Covid-19

Whilst we all have to wait and see what the impact of Omicron will be here in New Zealand, we know that this current out-break of Covid is unlike anything we have experienced before. The Government have produced a web page giving advice on how to make a plan for you and your family over this period. This can be accessed by searching- Be Prepared for Covid -19
Included on this page is a printable checklist to help you and you family. If you would like St Mary by the Sea to be part of you readiness planning please let us know.

Life at Red @ St Mary by the Sea

    Welcome Video
Here is our Welcome back video to remind everyone what church life at Red looks like.

    Our Money Our Story

    Our Money Our Story
We all have a money story, whether we recognize it or not. Perhaps we are living from a story of fear or shame. Or a story that the church is dying and no longer relevant. Or a story that our actions won’t have an impact. Or a story that we don’t have enough. Where might God be speaking a new narrative into the limited ones we have told ourselves?

This series invites us to discover and tell our money stories in light of God’s money story of liberation and justice. This series encourages us to transform our stewardship practices into more full expressions of who we are and what we believe.

This theme is intentionally direct—it invites us to name exactly what we’re talking about and not skirt around it. To speak of money is to invite tension into the room. We so quickly want to avoid it. It’s time to re-frame this. Money and possessions are one of the most common topics in scripture, and Jesus talked about money more than faith and prayer. Our money story, therefore, is a spiritual story. Thinking about God’s money story should be liberating, inviting, and transformative.

As we begin the year, we invite you to remember, release, re-imagine, and restore your money stories so that you can write the one God is calling you to live into.

Thanks to the amazing support we received, both through the Givealittle page and direct to Anglican Missions, over 29,000 people in vulnerable parts of the world were able to receive vaccinations against Covid-19. The total raised was around $180,000.00!
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

On 15 January the underwater Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano erupted leading to significant ash falls across Tonga and triggering tsunami waves. While electricity and mobile phone networks have been re-established on the main island of Tongatapu, communications with the outer islands are intermittent. The Tongan Navy has reported major damage in the Ha’apai Islands. Waves were estimated to be 5-10 metres in height and reaching 500 metres inland. The needs on the ground will be significant, especially in the northern more isolated islands. Pending assessments, the damage could include contaminated water and food supplies as a result of ashfall and damage due to inundation.
    Emergency Response
Anglican Missions is working with The Anglican Diocese of Polynesia to replenish prepositioned relief supplies located at four Anglican churches in Nuku’alofa, along with assisting in a response and recovery project based on needs assessments from our communities in Tonga. They will provide regular updates on their website as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for your donations to the Anglican Mission Tonga Response, we raised $425.00 for this during our recent collection.
