Hi ,
what a difference a week can make. We are back in the Red Traffic Light, as we wait to see the impact of the Omicron variant of Covid19. We have our video below explaining what RED is like. Next week we start a new series Our Money Story, details below.

Last week we heard Jesus lay out his mission plan; he claimed a prophecy of Isaiah. This means radical social change and engineering, and Jesus' home town can't stomach the idea of change, so they try to kill him. Family violence was alive in the time of Jesus, as it is today, and it is as repugnant then, as it is now.

Today we see Jesus' first miracle in Luke's Gospel as he walks through a mob of family intent on killing him.

Journeying with you, Dion

    Our Money Our Story

    Starts next week...

    Our Money Our Story
We all have a money story, whether we recognize it or not. Perhaps we are living from a story of fear or shame. Or a story that the church is dying and no longer relevant. Or a story that our actions won’t have an impact. Or a story that we don’t have enough. Where might God be speaking a new narrative into the limited ones we have told ourselves?

This series invites us to discover and tell our money stories in light of God’s money story of liberation and justice. This series encourages us to transform our stewardship practices into more full expressions of who we are and what we believe.

This theme is intentionally direct—it invites us to name exactly what we’re talking about and not skirt around it. To speak of money is to invite tension into the room. We so quickly want to avoid it. It’s time to reframe this. Money and possessions are one of the most common topics in scripture, and Jesus talked about money more than faith and prayer. Our money story, therefore, is a spiritual story. Thinking about God’s money story should be liberating, inviting, and transformative.

As we begin the year, we invite you to remember, release, reimagine, and restore your money stories so that you can write the one God is calling you to live into.

On 15 January the underwater Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano erupted leading to significant ash falls across Tonga and triggering tsunami waves. While electricity and mobile phone networks have been re-established on the main island of Tongatapu, communications with the outer islands are intermittent. The Tongan Navy has reported major damage in the Ha’apai Islands. Waves were estimated to be 5-10 metres in height and reaching 500 metres inland. The needs on the ground will be significant, especially in the northern more isolated islands. Pending assessments, the damage could include contaminated water and food supplies as a result of ashfall and damage due to inundation.
    Emergency Response
Anglican Missions is working with The Anglican Diocese of Polynesia to replenish prepositioned relief supplies located at four Anglican churches in Nuku’alofa, along with assisting in a response and recovery project based on needs assessments from our communities in Tonga. They will provide regular updates on their website as well as on Facebook and Instagram.

    Celebrations

Congratulation to everyone who sat exams in 2021 and has received their exam results in the last week. 2021 was a year with its own unique and massive challenges, to participate in any form of assessment in those circumstances is a testament to your tenacity and commitment. Congratulations to you all .
Best wished to all those students who will be changing schools or classes in the coming weeks, we wish you all the best for this new adventure.
