Hi ,
for the the next 4 weeks we will be covering 4 aspects of caring for God’s Creation. Regardless of what role you think God has played in creating Creation, there is much for us to learn. A central theme of the Psalms is that all of us, humans, the Earth and all created being have been created to worship God. We worship God when we do what it is God has created and called us to do. For the grass in the fields, the psalms tell us that they worship God when they sway. We can learn from Creation to slow down and to focus on what God is calling us to. Creation also helps us to go wow, look how amazing Creation is, how much more amazing must our God be!

For the next 4 weeks we will look at:
  1. Planet Earth
  2. Humanity
  3. The Sky
  4. Mountains
Our call, is to with the rest of Creation, worship God in all we do and say.

Journeying with you, Dion

Lockdown Worship Survey

How is lockdown going? We have a short 2 question survey on worship below. Lockdown looks like it will be for a little while. With this in mind, I would value your feedback on whether you would like to try another worship option on Zoom. Please take the opportunity to to give us some feedback. We will still carry on with the current YouTube option regardless. At this stage I would like to know if there is enough interest to try something new/additional.

Changes to Church Donations due to Covid

Over the last 18 months, with the advent of Covid, a large number of our congregation have changed the way they make their church donation. Many of you have changed from cash in a giving envelop at the Service to using on-line payments (regular Automatic Payment or Internet Transfers). We would like to thank you for adapting to this change in giving method. By giving electronically in this way it enables donations to continue even when we are not able to meet in person. It provides us some financial stability when the hall hires and Community Shop income is not a possibility. We know that Covid 19 can causes a lot of financial and emotional stress and uncertainty for people. If you are able to continue with your giving at this time and you would normally give via an envelope in church please consider changing over to an on-line payment method. If you would like information or assistance to change to electronic giving please get in touch with the office or Dion and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. All forms of giving can be attributed to your giving number for a tax receipt. Our bank account details are below in the contact field.

Auckland City Mission. Help in a time of Need

    City mission meal packing
Requests for food parcels have doubled at the Auckland City Mission, on top of already increased demand due to COVID-19 last year. Teams are also checking the streets to see if any rough sleepers need food, housing or medical help. Read full report above. The Mission can't accept donations of goods or food at this time, but if you would like to help financially, donate here.

    Friends of Vaughan Park.

Vaughan Park Anglican Retreat Centre took a big hit last year from COVID-19 and has had to close its doors again during this lockdown, losing income that's vital to cover daily running costs. By joining Friends of Vaughan Park, you can help the centre catch up from the last lockdown and continue providing hospitality to the Anglican community and beyond. For an annual fee or one-off donation, Friends have access to benefits including Thankful Thursday, a monthly draw with tiered prizes. There are also opportunities for regular giving. Sign up here.

Mainly Music is cancelled until we return to level 1.

For more information on Mainly Music please email Carol Henry on , she will be sending out email updates to those registered to the group. Mainly Music runs on Fridays, arrive for a 9:30am start to your movement and music event. A $4. donation is asked per family. If you know of a local family with pre-schoolers please recommend this group to them. It is a great way for parents and carers to spend quality time with their pre-schoolers and, as importantly, get to have some quality adult company. This group is open to all families with pre-schoolers.
Mainly Music runs during school term times during Covid level 1only.

    Able bodied helpers URGENTLY required

Mainly Music is a great mission, it runs school term only on Fridays at 9.30am. It provides an educational quality time for careers and pre-schoolers. We need volunteers to move all the chairs to the side of the church so we have an activity space for the families. If you are able to help move chairs Thursday, to set up, or on Friday at about 10:30am, after the session, please call Meg Norton 473 8444.

    Get one- Give One Campaign.

Get-one. Give-one is an Anglican Church wide and New Zealand wide campaign aimed at supporting access to the Covid Vaccine globally via the COVAX alliance. So far they have raised over $52,000 and every donation brings us closed to global safety from Covid.

In being thankful for the availability of vaccines in New Zealand, we are aware that many people are not so fortunate. The Get one. Give one. Campaign aims to protect and support the poorest and most vulnerable. When you get your Covid-19 vaccine, please consider donating $10 so that one of the world's most vulnerable can get theirs. $50 covers a family of five and $100 covers two families!
Supporting the 'Get One. Give One.' campaign is simple. Donations are being directed through Givealittle, rather than through Anglican Missions.
Lets pass our gratitude on because "We're only safe if Everyone's safe".
In New Zealand the Covid vaccine is Free to everyone aged over 16.

    Cyber safety.

Auckland Dioceses have made us aware of a scams currently targeting churches.
People are emailed, apparently by the clergy, and asked for money to support a person in need. If you receive any email asking you for money, gift-cards or anything similar, please ignore it and delete it. It is recommended you report it to the Police and/or Netsafe. You will never be asked for money or gift cards via email. Please only give money to St Mary by the Sea, via online banking (details below) or EFTPOS at St Mary by the Sea.

This is a timely reminder to all parishioners to be cautious of any email asking for money or gift cards. Auckland Diocese has a policy that clergy in the Anglican Church do not ask for funds directly in this way.

Happy Birthday to Bill Stoddard who will Celebrate his 88th birthday on the 11th September. Many happy returns to you.

If there is a celebration you would like added to our list or a one off event that you would like celebrated please let the office know. Email

    Prayer for Persecuted Believers

I am a local Christian and run a small prayer group using information from Barnabas Fund, Voice of the Martyrs, Open Doors and other organisations. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in nations where it is illegal for them to practice their faith, or even own a Bible, and also thank God for answered prayer.
If you have a particular nation or people group on your heart please feel free to come and share, so we can join together in prayer.

At present, we meet every second Monday of the month at Northcross Church, and start with refreshments at 7pm before we pray.

You will be made very welcome, and for more information please contact Margaret Marriott at or 021 0242 2641
