Hi ,
lock down season 5. We were warned that this was coming, but it doesn't make it any less of a shock. Remember to stay home and be kind. If you need any help, our contact details are below and we would love to help. There will be occasional email updates as the government release new time frames. Facebook has regular updates too.

This week in our series on stewardship we look at time and we think:
  • What time has God given me?
  • How am I using my time?
  • What is God challenging me of my time use?
  • And how may I help others with the time I have?
Time is a complex thing. We have so much of it and not enough of it at the same time. Sometimes it sits heavily on us and other times it speeds by. When you are young Christmas and Birthdays seem to take AGES to come and when you are older time seems to go so quickly.

We look forward this week to exploring this with you.

Journeying with you, Dion

    Stroll for your Soul.

Are you looking for something to do that won't be effected by lockdown. Stroll for your Soul is for you. Stick to your local area, stroll alone or with your bubble, and you are good to go.

St Marys had purchased a group subscription and you are welcome to join for FREE. Simply email the church office from the email address you would like the daily prompts to go to with STROLL FOR YOUR SOUL in the subject line. The church office will register you and you will receive a confirmation email once you have been added.

Stroll for Your Soul will be delivered early each morning to your inbox. Each email will offer a practice, or a reflection, or a poem, or a photograph giving direction and encouragement to your time spent walking or jogging or biking or even skateboarding. It takes 21 days to create a habit. Use these daily emails as motivation to get outside. They will help you notice the green and growing glories of Spring. If you are a regular walker, they offer practice at paying attention and being in the present moment. Weave silence and mindful reflection into whatever minutes you have to give to your self. Deepen your awareness of seeing the Divine in the ordinary and practice being in the present moment with these daily emails. This year’s theme is Homes. Think nests, think burrows, think sheds and shells. We’ll look for a diversity of homes on our strolls and learn how each home helps us notice something about the wonder and sacredness of our Earth Home. Stroll for Your Soul is a collaboration between The Prayer Bench in Canada and Kereru Publishing in New Zealand. Over 700 Northern Hemisphere Strollers completed the Stroll in May.Come Stroll with us this September!

WHEN: The Southern Hemisphere Stroll begins with a welcome email Wednesday, Sept 1 2021. You receive daily emails from Saturday Sept 4 -Friday Sept 27.

Mainly Music runs on Fridays, arrive for a 9:30am start to your movement and music event. A $4. donation is asked per family. If you know of a local family with pre-schoolers please recommend this group to them. It is a great way for parents and carers to spend quality time with their pre-schoolers and, as importantly, get to have some quality adult company. This group is open to all families with pre-schoolers.
Mainly Music runs during school term times during Covid level 1only.

    Able bodied helpers URGENTLY required

Mainly Music is a great mission, it runs school term only on Fridays at 9.30am. It provides an educational quality time for careers and pre-schoolers. We need volunteers to move all the chairs to the side of the church so we have an activity space for the families. If you are able to help move chairs Thursday, to set up, or on Friday at about 10:30am, after the session, please call Meg Norton 473 8444.

    Community Shop

The Community Shop is currently closed and will remain so until Government advise changes. We would like to thank to all who support this venture. The shop had takings just in excess of $9,100 for the month of July. Get one- Give One Campaign.

Get-one. Give-one is an Anglican Church wide and New Zealand wide campaign aimed at supporting access to the Covid Vaccine globally via the COVAX alliance. So far they have raised over $52,000 and every donation brings us closed to global safety from Covid.

In being thankful for the availability of vaccines in New Zealand, we are aware that many people are not so fortunate. The Get one. Give one. Campaign aims to protect and support the poorest and most vulnerable. When you get your Covid-19 vaccine, please consider donating $10 so that one of the world's most vulnerable can get theirs. $50 covers a family of five and $100 covers two families!
Supporting the 'Get One. Give One.' campaign is simple. Donations are being directed through Givealittle, rather than through Anglican Missions.
Lets pass our gratitude on because "We're only safe if Everyone's safe".
In New Zealand the Covid vaccine is Free to everyone aged over 16.

Auckland Dioceses have made us aware of a scams currently targeting churches.
People are emailed, apparently by the clergy, and asked for money to support a person in need. If you receive any email asking you for money, gift-cards or anything similar, please ignore it and delete it. It is recommended you report it to the Police and/or Netsafe. You will never be asked for money or gift cards via email. Please only give money to St Mary by the Sea, via online banking (details below) or EFTPOS at St Mary by the Sea.

This is a timely reminder to all parishioners to be cautious of any email asking for money or gift cards. Auckland Diocese has a policy that clergy in the Anglican Church do not ask for funds directly in this way.

If there is a celebration you would like added to our list or a one off event that you would like celebrated please let the office know. Email

    Prayer for Persecuted Believers

I am a local Christian and run a small prayer group using information from Barnabas Fund, Voice of the Martyrs, Open Doors and other organisations. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in nations where it is illegal for them to practice their faith, or even own a Bible, and also thank God for answered prayer.
If you have a particular nation or people group on your heart please feel free to come and share, so we can join together in prayer.

At present, we meet every second Monday of the month at Northcross Church, and start with refreshments at 7pm before we pray.

You will be made very welcome, and for more information please contact Margaret Marriott at or 021 0242 2641
