Hi ,
This week is our last in our Intergenerational series, where we have reminded ourselves of our call to be an intentionally intergenerational community.

In our first two weeks on intergenerational ministry we looked at the why we have chosen intergenerational ministry, and why we join together across the ages. We join together to fulfill Psalm 145:

Each generation will announce to the next your wonderful and powerful deeds.

We join together to fulfill Psalm 145, and the many other scriptures we have discovered that guide is to worship, pray and remember our stories together. And last week we looked at making room for each other.

Today we are going to celebrate being together. Today we are going to share the joy that we experience in church and in our lives and what we are thankful for. We discover the celebration that exists within holy festivals and the benefits of gratitude where we celebrate what we have.

Journeying with you, Dion

    Intergenerational Focus

    A four-week journey

This series reminds us of our call to be an intentionally intergenerational community. It is set in the context that intergenerational gatherings happen on a regular basis but that there is more we can do to seek connection with one another, to nourish and support each other in our faith journeys and to be community.

    The key themes are:
    1. Why We Journey Together
    2. Upside Down Kingdom
    3. Making Room (theology of accommodation)
    4. Celebrating Life Together
    quiz night

The BIG quiz night is on.

Unfortunately we were unable to hold this event last year due to Covid restrictions but this year we are holding the St Mary's tearfund BIG quiz night.
Saturday 21st August. See Mark van der Ham for more details. A great fun night for all ages. Come alone, come with your family, friends or neighbours but make sure you book your slot to come to this great event.

    Mainly Music is Back

Mainly Music returns is back on Fridays , arrive for a 9:30am start to your movement and music event. A $4. donation is asked per family. If you know of a local family with pre-schoolers please recommend this group to them. It is a great way for parents and carers to spend quality time with their pre-schoolers and, as importantly, get to have some quality adult company. This group is open to all families with pre-schoolers. Mainly Music runs during school term times during Covid level 1only.

    Able bodied helpers URGENTLY required

Mainly Music is a great mission, it runs school term only on Fridays at 9.30am. It provides an educational quality time for careers and pre-schoolers. We need volunteers to move all the chairs to the side of the church so we have an activity space for the families. If you are able to help move chairs Thursday, to set up, or on Friday at about 10:30am, after the session, please call Meg Norton 473 8444.

    get one give one

Anglican Missions Get one- Give One Campaign.

Get-one. Give-one is an Anglican Church wide (and soon to be New Zealand wide) campaign! Already over $6500 has been raised!
In being thankful for the availability of vaccines in our country, we are aware that many people are not so fortunate. The Get one. Give one. Campaign aims to protect and support the poorest and most vulnerable.
When you get your Covid-19 vaccine, please consider donating $10 so that one of the world's most vulnerable can get theirs. $50 covers a family of five and $100 covers two families!
Supporting the 'Get One. Give One.' campaign is simple.
Donations are being directed through Givealittle, rather than through Anglican Missions.
Lets pass our gratitude on because Covid -19 won't be over until it's over for everyone.
    • Spread the word with family, friends and your workplace. This is a chance for families, workplaces, schools and churches to mobilise together to make a world wide difference.
In New Zealand the Covid vaccine is Free to everyone aged over 16.

    Covid Vaccinations

COVID-19 vaccine update from the New Zealand Government
Published 28 July, 2021. COVID-19 vaccine rollout hits Group 4 milestone
We have reached an important milestone in our COVID-19 vaccine rollout, with the first people in Group 4 now eligible to make their bookings to get vaccinated.
From 28th July 2021, people aged 60 years and over can book their vaccine appointments. This is the first age band in group 4 to be invited to make an appointment as the rollout starts to extend to the wider population.
Invitations have been sent out to encourage people in this age band to book their appointments online via, with support from the COVID-19 Vaccination Healthline 0800 282926.
Everyone in Aotearoa New Zealand will be able to get the vaccine. Group 4 has over two million people so we’re breaking this group down by age bands – starting with the oldest and working our way down to the youngest (see table below).

    Group 3 bookings
We are still vaccinating plenty of people in Group 3 and some in Group 2 – demand is high and those people aged 60+ who, from today, are being given the opportunity to make their booking today are likely to get their first dose in six to eight weeks’ time. Some people will find an appointment sooner.
If you are in Group 3 and haven't received an invitation to book your vaccine, please call the COVID-19 Vaccination Healthline on 0800 282926 between 8am - 8pm, seven days a week, to make your booking. It helps if you have either your NHI number or your booking code, but neither is essential.
70 percent of all New Zealanders aged over 65 have either already been vaccinated or are now scheduled to be.
Anyone who might find travel difficult will be pleased that the Albany Vaccination clinic is now open for bookings.

    Cyber safety.

Auckland Dioceses have made us aware of a scams currently targeting churches.
People are emailed, apparently by the clergy, and asked for money to support a person in need. If you receive any email asking you for money, gift-cards or anything similar, please ignore it and delete it. It is recommended you report it to the Police and/or Netsafe. You will never be asked for money or gift cards via email. Please only give money to St Mary by the Sea, via online banking (details below) or EFTPOS at St Mary by the Sea.

This is a timely reminder to all parishioners to be cautious of any email asking for money or gift cards. Auckland Diocese has a policy that clergy in the Anglican Church do not ask for funds directly in this way.

If there is a celebration you would like added to our list or a one off event that you would like celebrated please let the office know. Email

    Church donations by Cheque.

The BNZ, (the churches bank), will stop processing cheques from 30th June 2021. We are no longer be able to present cheques to the bank for clearing. Donations can be made via direct bank transfer, automatic regular payment or EFTPOS machine in church. If anyone would like information on any of these methods and how they work with your giving number please do not hesitate to ask. All of these options can be recorded against your giving number.

      Prayer for Persecuted Believers

I am a local Christian and run a small prayer group using information from Barnabas Fund, Voice of the Martyrs, Open Doors and other organisations. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in nations where it is illegal for them to practice their faith, or even own a Bible, and also thank God for answered prayer.
If you have a particular nation or people group on your heart please feel free to come and share, so we can join together in prayer.

At present, we meet every second Monday of the month at Northcross Church, and start with refreshments at 7pm before we pray.

You will be made very welcome, and for more information please contact Margaret Marriott at or 021 0242 2641
